Automation technology, new consumer food trends and environmental sustainability were among the key topics of discussion at last week's Agri Innovation Workshop in Ashburton.

Over 280 people attended the event, which featured a series of presentations from leading figures in the industry.

Nick Pyke, the former head of the Foundation for Arable Research, spoke on food production in New Zealand, emphasizing the importance of efficient, profitable land use and outlining the different future foods impacting our nation's farmers, from plant proteins to ancient grains.
